Panda Safety presents the characteristics of Sanitary & Food line.

Safety and prevention in the workplace should be taken for granted concepts for all workers, public and private companies. New technologies and the increase of risks have led to a tougher sanctions for missed observation of current regulations in the field of accident prevention.

According to the current law, orthotics must be put on when you are exposed to risks which cannot be avoided in the workplace (electric shocks, crushing, shoe perforations, corrosive agents, burns, etc).

The well-being of each worker, especially those who have to be on their feet for a long time every day, depends on the health of their feet. It’s essential to put on a shoe that protects them from injuries and takes care of the worker foot protecting him also from the risks we cannot see.

In order to achieve this goal Sanitary & Food is designed to satisfy specific needs of workers in medical-health area and workers who deal with transformation or administration of food and drinks. In both areas, shoes for these kind of workers need to avoid a list of risks such as:

  • Chemical and biological risk – This kind of dangers involve doctors, nurses, healthcare professionals or lab techs. Shoes for these categories of workers need to protect their skin from dangerous contact with chemical and biological substances; they need to be frequently washable and highly breathable to ensure the ideal inner microclimate for the users.
  • Crushing risks and collisions – Operators of both areas constantly have to deal with sharp or very heavy objects, so they are always exposed to the risk of dangerous accidental falls on their lower limbs.
  • Slipping or fall risks – Oils, steam and fluids on the workplace surfaces during shifts make it necessary a very high sole grip to the floor.

Besides all the said risks, orthotics must be made according to current relevant legislation about “white shoes”. Especially EN 344 and EN 345 lay down requirements for every single kind of orthotics (marked by the symbol S and numbered progressively with cardinal numbers).

Basic requirements (marked by SB indication) include claims about uppers, soles, front lining and toe cap (able to absorb the energy of a shock by falling till 200 Joules). EN 347 refers to orthotics specifically for professional use (marked by O indication).

Panda Safety offers a wide range of shoes designed for both areas (sandals, boots and flat shoes) that join the protection from the most common risks of injuries (crushing and slipping) and the complete sanification of materials of the inner lining. Thanks to this specific treatment we can avoid the growth of bacteria and microbes inside the shoe. The lining of this line ensures fast transpiration of sweat and the constant recirculation of air so the worker foot is equipped with a dry, clean and healthy shoe.
